Why Telegram?
Why are we not using WhatsApp, the world's most popular messaging service? Let us explain. As you probably know, WhatsApp is owned by Facebook. At the time of purchasing WhatsApp, Facebook paid a fortune, US$ 19.3 billion according to public records, for this company. The service is free, so Facebook's long term strategy is to monetize the data - your chat text and pictures. We do not like this strategy, but find it especially inappropriate for a sensitive community like this one. For this reason, this community is not on WhatsApp.
An additional issue is that the content of an alternative lifestyle community may not meet Facebook's policies and terms of service, which can result in our whole community being blocked. Telegram has not shown such tendencies to date, so it is our obvious choice for this community.
